Online EMDR therapy for adults across the UK
Some experiences stay with us long after they are over. A memory can still trigger panic, a car journey can bring back an accident, or a setback can leave you feeling stuck in the same reaction again and again. EMDR therapy helps your brain process these experiences so they lose their emotional charge.
I offer EMDR online across the UK and in person in London N7, in English or Italian, for adults aged 18 and over.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is an evidence-based therapy recommended by NICE for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in adults.
During EMDR, you briefly focus on a distressing memory while following bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movements or alternating taps. This helps the memory get "filed away" properly, so it feels like something that happened in the past rather than something still happening now. You stay fully aware and in control throughout.
What is EMDR?
single traumatic events, such as accidents, assaults or medical emergencies
the long-term effects of difficult or painful experiences
anxiety, panic attacks and phobias
performance anxiety in sport, work or exams
distressing memories, intrusive images and nightmares
negative beliefs about yourself, like "I'm not good enough" or "I'm not safe"
What EMDR can help with
Does EMDR work online?
Yes. EMDR can be delivered safely and effectively online. We use on-screen eye movements or self-administered taps, and you take part from a private, comfortable space at home. Many clients find it easier to process difficult material from somewhere they already feel safe.
Assessment. We start by understanding your history, what brings you to therapy and what you would like to change.
Preparation. Before any memory work, we build grounding and self-regulation skills so you feel steady and in control.
Processing. We work through the target memories one at a time, at a pace that feels manageable.
Integration. We check that changes hold in daily life and plan how to handle future triggers.
The number of sessions depends on what we are working on. A single, recent event may need only a few sessions; more complex experiences usually take longer.
What to expect
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to talk about the trauma in detail? No. EMDR does not require you to describe every detail out loud. You stay in charge of what you share.
Will it make me feel worse? Some people feel tired or emotional after a session. That is why we prepare carefully first and end every session with grounding techniques.
Do you offer EMDR for children? No, I offer EMDR to adults only.
